BARRY-BASED ceramic artist RL Clarkson (Rebecca) will show-case her one-woman exhibition Beauty Within in Cadoxton, this month.

Ms Clarkson’s exhibition, in The Room in the Park gallery space in Victoria Park, Barry, is inspired by Barry’s landscape - both the coastal and the town’s urban spaces.

She studied ceramics and painting at Wolverhampton university, followed by an MA in ceramic design from Staffordshire University.

She creates new artworks, using mixed media working with ceramics as her canvas and she works in multiples, with each individual piece standing alone or within the collection as a whole.

Rebecca said: “As an artist living and working in Barry, my new work Beauty Within is highly influenced by the surroundings of the town - the urban and suburban, the cliff tops and beaches. My images are created from mixed media manipulation - using a variety of media, including paint, screen-printing, and pen and ink.”

Her work is inspired by her time spent in and around the potteries of Staffordshire and is regarded as functional and ascetically beautiful - working as decadent tableware or as ceramic wall art.

She is a founder member of VOGA - the Vale of Glamorgan Artists - and has recently exhibited selected pieces of the collection at the Boundary Gallery in Cardiff Bay.

The exhibition is at The Room in the Park, Victoria Park, Barry, and is open to the public from Thursday, June 16 until Thursday, June 30.

It opens from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday, 10am to 12pm.

Admission is free.
