THE Wombles helped launch Keep Britain Tidy's Diamond Jubilee Big Tidy Up at Wimbledon Common earlier this month, before heading to Barry Island where they chipped in with team of volunteers to tidy Barry's beaches.

With the help of Great Uncle Bulgaria, volunteers including Customers of Sully Scope, Councillor Rob Curtis, Mark Robertson from the Vale’s Youth Offending Service team and Year 10 pupils from Stanwell School braved the windy weather to help clean up the Island.

Councillor Curtis said: “It was fantastic to see the volunteers from Scope turn up to help, as well as the pupils from Stanwell, and our YOS team.

"It’s good to see that there are plenty of people concerned about their environment, and willing to help.

"It’s a small gesture, but it can make such a huge difference to how appealing an area looks.”
