ON the weekend of October 25-26, 65 Scouts from most of the Scout groups in Barry passed their Nautical Skills badge after training on Barry Docks.
Training was provided on Saturday by a team of instructors and activities included, rowing, power boating, capsize drill in a kayak, kayaking skills, knotting,learning the parts of a boat and line throwing.
Most of the Barry Scout Groups were represented including First Penmark, Second/Fourth Barry, Fifth Barry, Sixth Barry and 11th Barry.
District commissioner Chris Parsons said “This was a great event, thanks to the hard work by all the leaders and instructors. Our Scouts were able to experience water activities, have fun and gain an important Scout Badge”
