VALE MP Alun Cairns visited a Barry charity shop to see staff and volunteers working to aid low-income families in need of vets for pets.
The MP visited the pet charity shop PDSA on Holton Road to see how fundraising efforts support household pets in Barry and the Vale.
He met with PDSA manager Peter Hudson to discuss the challenges raising funds to help owners and their pets.
Mr Cairns said: βIt was very interesting to meet the team at the PDSA charity shop in Barry. I am very supportive of charities that support pet owners. Christmas is a time when pets are more important than ever. For many older people at this time of year, the companionship provided by a dog or cat is so important, and I fully encourage the fundraising activities to help support the vets that keep the pets healthy.β
