TWO Barry men has been banned from entering several town centre and Waterfront shops, due to being caught stealing several times in just over a week.

Cardiff and Vale Magistrates court heard how, in separate appearances, Anthony John Harding, 27, of Bassett Street, Barry pleaded guilty to four counts of theft and Steven Alan Romain, 32, of Amherst Crescent, Barry pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and breaching the terms of a conditional discharge for a previous offence of theft.

On Wednesday, March 18 Anthony John Harding stole a Peppa Pig jigsaw puzzle, valued at £4.99, from WH Smith. Four days later on Sunday, March 22 he stole a bottle of Prosecco valued at £12 from Tesco.

The following day, Monday, March 23, he stole a quantity of DVDs from Argos and then on Sunday, March 29 he stole bread and bakery goods of an unknown value from Poundstretcher.

Harding pleaded guilty to all charges and was made the subject of an exclusion order, banning him from entering Argos, Tesco, WH Smith and Poundstretcher for six months.

He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £60 surcharge.

Romain pleaded guilty to stealing a child's toy gun from Argos on Monday, March 23 and also stealing bread and bakery goods from Poundstretcher on Sunday, March 29.

At the time of his offences he was serving a 12 month conditional discharge for an offence of stealing DVDs of a value unknown belonging to Lidl in September last year.

He was given a 16 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and was also made the subject of an exclusion order, banning him from entering Argos, Tesco, WH Smith and Poundstretcher for six months and ordered to pay £85 court costs and an £80 surcharge.
