A VEHICLE collided with a wall and post in Barry just after 11am on Friday, June 26.

Trinity Street, where the accident took place, is trialling a one-way system for six months, with traffic flowing in the Broad Street direction.

A police spokeswoman said: “It would appear that the handbrake on her (the driver's) vehicle may have failed and she collided with a lamppost and a wall.”

No injuries were reported.

Buttrills Vale and town councillor, Ian Johnson, questioned the council on the consultation responses, so far, received on Trinity Street, at its Full Council meeting on Wednesday, June 24.

He was told no comment would be made until after the consultation had ended.

Councillor Ian Johnson said: “Trinity Street is very steep, with a substantial gradient. Reducing dangerous traffic is one of the reasons why the council is currently trialling a one-way system there.

“We are now three months into that trial and reactions from local residents are still mixed.

“I think it is clear that there is now less traffic using Trinity Street, but we will have to wait and see the evidence to see where that traffic has gone, whether it has created problems in other streets and how local residents have been affected.

“There is still three months to go of the trial, until the end of September, and so residents still have time to give feedback on the one-way system and what they think should happen in the autumn.”
