STALL holders at Barry's annual Artisan Market, on High Street, have been congratulated by councillors who attended the event.

With a variety of goods and produce on sale, fair weather and the crowds able to enjoy browsing free of passing traffic, there was also music performed by The Box Band and an appearance by Miss Wales 2016 finalist Taylor Barrington.

Taylor was fundraising for the charity 'Beauty with a Purpose’, the organisation created by Julia Morley in 1972 which is at the heart of the Miss World competition.

Local councillors Nic and Shirley Hodges congratulated the vendors at the annual Artisan Market along High Street.

Plaid Cymru councillor Nic Hodges said that the standard of the stalls was very high.

“I especially liked the stall selling unique Barry branded goods," he said, "There was also lovely crafts, arts and live music."

Town councillor Shirley Hodges added: “I hope High Street traders carry on with this event in the future.

"I suspect there are some parking issues to iron out as we saw a number of parking tickets on cars and I hope the Vale cooperate with the public and traders over this.

"I have assurances from Councillor Lis Burnett that VOG council has plans to improve parking, I hope we can count on them to do this."
