MEMBERS of Soroptimist International Barry and District recently visited Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern, where Sue Richards from Penarth had the enjoyable task of presenting John Fanshaw, the chairman of DPVC, with a cheque for £435.

This money was raised at a Right Royal Garden Party which Sue and her husband, Tony, hosted in their home.

DPVC is a vital resource for many local people, helping them by, amongst other things, delivering their prescriptions, taking them to Church, shopping, or just dropping in for a cup of tea and a chat.

Although the charity has always taken people to surgery appointments, this service is even more vital with the opening of the new Health Centre. As well as running their own minibus, DPVC also supplies drivers for the CADDY people carrier, which is provided by Medical Centre Transport.

John said they were extremely grateful for this support from Soroptimists, and that the money would be a very useful contribution to the maintenance and running costs of the vehicles.
