YEAR 10 pupils at Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School became budding entrepreneurs last week to put on the annual Welsh Baccalaureate Fair.

The girls worked in groups of three to six and were given the challenge of developing a product or service to maximise their profits from an initial £10 investment.

This challenge formed part of their Enterprise and Employability Challenge for their Welsh Baccalaureate.

With support from their form tutors the girls had to put a plan together and present their ideas in the form of a sales pitch to a panel of "dragons" before following through with their idea at the fair.

There were a vast array of stalls advertising milkshakes, sweets and samosas to henna tattoos, handmade crafts and a photo booth.

The fair was open to staff and pupils all morning and the girls were given a short break in the middle so that they could replenish their stock.

Altogether the fair raised £935 which will be donated to Ty Hafan, the charity chosen by the Year 10 pupils.

Miss Tracey Young, head of Year 10 said, "I am extremely proud of girls and the professional approach they have taken for this challenge. They have been very organised in their preparation for today which has resulted in a successful learning experience which will also benefit a very worthwhile charity."
