THE following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' court, sitting at Cardiff.

Kristian Lewis, aged 37, of Heol Leubren, Barry, pleaded guilty to making threats of violence to a taxi driver and to damaging a Peugeot 407 to the value of £1105. He was given a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, was ordered to carry out 180 hours unpaid work, and to pay £1925 compensation, £85 costs and an £80 surcharge.

Matthew Michael Phillips, aged 20, of South Walk, Barry, pleaded guilty to assault. He was fined £50 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, £50 costs and a £20 surcharge.

James Brett Tamlin, aged 35, of Holton Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to trespassing in a staff room at the University Hospital of Wales and stealing £15. He was given a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

Mark Hicks, aged 18, of Tynewydd Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to two charges of sending threatening messages via a dating website, intending to cause distress to the recipient. He was given a 12 month prison sentence, to be served in a young offender institution, was made the subject of a restraining order and was ordered to pay an £80 surcharge.

Daniel Davies, aged 23, of Harvey Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to damaging an ornamental John Wayne replica rifle belonging to another person. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £300, £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Dean Williams, aged 42, of The Parade, Barry, was found guilty in absence of assault. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £100 compensation and £300 costs.
