BARRY Barnardo's Helper Group would like to thank all who attended their recent 150 years and always fundraising event - A Musical Celebration with afternoon tea.

The event took place at All Saints' Church Barry on Saturday, May 7.

A special thanks to master of ceremonies Norman Pereira and the artistes who gave their time and talents to provide such a lovely concert which was enjoyed by a full and appreciative audience.

A raffle was held during the afternoon tea which included many generous donations from Tesco's, Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, John Lewis, Miss Holmes (Barry), Lana Beautique (Penarth), and Lily Pad (Penarth) as well as a special rose called Sweet Syrie that has been bred to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the charity.

The event raised more than £1,100 for the work of Barnardo's Cymru.

A huge thank you to all who supported the event and to all of the talented local artistes. The Barry BHG committee would like to thank all of those who were involved in helping to set up and to clear away afterwards.

A big thank you to Father Kevin for allowing the use of the church for the event.
