IDENTICAL twins Kathryn and Georgia Bullen have always done most things side-by-side, but they have now elevated that to another level.

The talented 19-year-old Barry duo have maintained their closeness, and have both been offered places to train with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) as professional ballet teachers.

The pair were featured in the Barry & District News last year when they notched up identical A-level success, gaining A* grades in the same subjects from their studies at Bryn Hafren Comprehensive.

Kathryn, the elder by four minutes, and Georgia began their ballet training at the age of three.

They started out with the Wendy Summerell School of Dance before teaming up with the new ballet school of Barry-based performing arts academy Superstars in the Making (SITM).

They are currently dance coaches for SITM, working alongside their brother - SITM founder and director Christian Bullen.

They offer children, aged three plus, the chance to dance and be trained in jazz, contemporary, tap, modern and street dance.

The duo have danced competitively, while the pair also danced with the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in London last year.

Kathryn said: "I feel really excited and privileged to have been given the opportunity to study on the Royal Academy of Dance course. I felt a sense of relief after hearing I had been given a place on the course after dedicating many years towards my ballet training. I am looking forward to starting my journey towards my future career."

Georgia added: "I was really overwhelmed when I found out the news, as I'm very fortunate to be offered a place, due to the limited amount of space on the course. I am really excited to start the two-year course in January, as it will enable me to achieve my desired career, which is to be a professional ballet teacher."

The twins are currently mentored by SITM’s head of ballet and RAD teacher Kim Tulloch.

Ms Tulloch, with assistance from the twins, recently enjoyed a 100 per cent pass rate with distinctions and merits in the latest examination season.

Mr Bullen said: “Their success means that SITM can add more classes to its weekly offering in Barry and train more young people to reach their potential.”
