THIS weekend saw Sully Sports welcome Tonyrefail in the SWALEC Bowl.

Conditions were right for running rugby again if a little wet under foot, even in the warm up you could see both sides were up for this cup match.

So the game kicked of and Sports showed good intent from the start putting the visitors under pressure. With both sides showing strengths in attack and defence it seemed it was going to be a hard slog at the office for the players, but it was the visitors who got on the board first.

Again Sports showed how far they have come this season and rallied well with some storming runs from Jody Velda and Jon Blake backed by the rucking forwards. Sports soon got their own try thanks to Rhys Manford.

With the supporters being entertained with some hard tackles, light feet running and fierce contest at the break down, it was the visitors that scored next and the half time score was 7-14.

So with a change at half time and the wind against them, Sports continued to pressure Tonyrefail's line, this was fast becoming a strong contest which no side wanting to lose.

A battle which was enjoyed by all, however it was the visitors that used the wind well and soon got behind the Sports defensive line, scoring a couple well worked tries.

Not to be outdone Sports continued to play well in patches and again got on the score sheet. The game continued to flow and both sides showed skills and power in attack and defence.

This was not to be Sports day and Tonyrefail ran out winners 40-12. However this was a strong performance from everyone that played, and bodes well for the future.
