BARRY Beavers travelled to Carmarthen on April 18, for the Towy Salmon Gala. The group competed against seven other Welsh clubs and came second overall with four gold medals, six silver and one bronze.

They had 21 swimmers competing who did tremendously well as they were 10 swimmers down this time.

The medallists were;

Gold: Abigail Finch, Callum Savory and Courtney Rogers.

Gold Junior Relay: Tyler Savory, Jesse Rodgers, Courtney Rogers and Abigail Finch.

Silver: Jack Kemp, Keira Richards (first gala), Louis Davies, Ffion Jones, Tyler Savory and James Jones.

Other swimmers taking part just missed out in some very tight races, including missing out by a quarter of a second, they were; Joanne Davies Shannon, Talisha and Layla Rogers, Katie Rosser (first gala), Will Griffiths, Sarah Davies, Philip Daly.

There was an instructor’s race competing for Barry Beavers and they were Christopher Economides and Sarah Davies, they did well like all the swimmers and they are really proud of them, so well done to the team.

They look forward to May now as they will be going to Ebbw Vale to compete against Blaenau Gwent Otters. A big thank you also to the mum’s who come out and support them wherever they go and also to Pencoed Travel for their coaches to take them to various venues.
