Pumas 'A' 1 - Tynewydd FC 2

Men's Division One

IN A game for the most part that was as poor as the pitch was; Tynewydd were pleased to come away with all three points having looked liked throwing two away late on.

With little of note happening till the 70th minute with both teams grinding out what looked like a 0-0 draw until a cross into the Pumas box was failed to clear and Ross Smith popped up at the back stick to bludgeon the ball in from a few yards out and give the Tynny a 1-0 lead.

Tynny then made a few defensive minded substitutions to try and see the game out but failure to put pressure on the Pumas attacking build up invited chances in the Tynny box and one such chance was neatly finished with five minutes to go making it one a piece.

Pumas then went looking for the winner but the Tynny have a strong resolve this season and it was them that managed to snatch the win with only minutes remaining. A quickly thrown out ball from goalkeeper Jodie Shepherd allowed Smith to play in Lewis Union down the left wing and with some nifty footwork he managed to skip past the covering defender and finish with aplomb from a tight angle, guiding the ball into the top corner to give the Tynny all three points.

Man of the Match went to Lewis Union for his game winning goal with special mention to Gareth Tinsely for his non-stop work ethic in the middle of the park who was a constant thorn in the side for the Pumas all game.
