BARRY ladies welcomed Cardiff Met Ladies to a double header Cup and League fixture at their Merthyr Dyfan home pitch.

Following the lesson in rugby they received in the earlier fixture Barry knew they would be in for a tough match.

Barry started the game strongly taking the game to the Met ladies. The Barry scrum was gaining the upper hand allowing half backs Shanahan and Deeks to set the three quarters loose.

Centre Dando showed her strength scoring two tries with early tries also being scored by Cashman and Shanahan – Deeks slotting three conversions.

The University side came back strongly and from a quick tap penalty out flanked the home defence to score their only points. Barry rallied and forced their way back in the Met 22.

From another dominant scrum, number 10 Deeks was fed the ball who then offloaded perfectly for Dando to power over the line under the posts. The conversion slotted easily, making the half-time score 33-5.

The second half started with Met attacking strongly. Only last ditch tackles by Cashman and Deeks prevented further away tries. As Met looked to score Williams ripped the ball and Barry counter attacked from in front of their line.

The ball eventually passing to Hines who defied her position and sped into the Met half ably supported by Fox-Mabe.

Hines then scored a good try followed soon after by Cahill forcing her way over the whitewash, following strong forward play. Perry scored a try after a typical barn storming run.

Further forward dominance was shown by prop Jordan also crossing for a try. Deeks converting all of the them/

The final score was 61-5.

A solid team performance was only marred by slight indiscipline and two yellow cards. Forward dominance may have laid the foundations but the backs showed how ruthless they can be.

Well done to Walker on the flank and Bishop on her debut. Richards came on and showed her power in typical forward drives along with Williams and Hines. Speedy recovery to the injured Met player.
