THE YMCA Barry female competitive gymnastics squad had an exciting visitor to help with their training last week.

Maisie Methuen, aged14, is one of Britain’s most promising gymnasts, who even at this young age has had huge success. This includes becoming the 2014 British Espoire Champion, the 2015 British Junior Silver medallist, the 2015 Welsh Junior Champion and even winning a historic silver medal for her beam routine at the European Youth Olympics.

Maisie, with all this experience and knowledge certainly inspired the YMCA Barry gymnasts to progress further with their gymnastics.

Maisie spent the session coaching the gymnasts and passing on her specialist knowledge to help improve their skills. The gymnasts also had the opportunity to ask Maisie questions about her gymnastics and experiences - they even got a little demonstration.

YMCA Barry would like to say a big thank you to Maisie. All the gymnasts finished the session truly inspired by Maisie’s achievements and determined to improve their own gymnastic skills.

All the YMCA Barry gymnasts are looking forward to prove they are a force to be reckoned with in 2016.

YMCA Barry offers a range of classes for boys and girls from toddler classes to elite levels in male, female and rhythmic gymnastics all delivered by very qualified coaches.

They are also expanding their activities to now include cheerleading as well as adult gymnastics for all abilities. This is a great way to have fun and keep fit.
