POSTPONED due to rain last August, Sully Cricket Club finally won the Cardiff Midweek Cup beating Cardiff Cameos by four wickets on Mayday bank holiday Monday.
Skipper Morgan won the toss and elected to bowl which with a drying wicket and outfield would prove to be the right decision in this close tense match.
The Cameos were 42 for zero wicket after five overs and rattling along. Ram and Sunny took two wickets apiece but the score still speed along and so after 12 overs the Cameos were 103 for four and a large total was in the offering, despite two excellent catches from Sathish.
Morgan and Vishal G entered the arena and ensured that a winnable chase was on the cards.
The skipper ending up with three for 15 and Vishal G three for 25 as the Cameos were all out for 142.
In response the Spartans started off well with Vishal B (17) and Saeed (23) putting on 47 for the first wicket.
A couple of wickets went down with the board moving along to 98 for six and the game was on a knife edge, but enter Gaurav (16 not out) and Sunny (29 not out) with a partnership of 45 which took the Spartans past the winning post and the cup was back at the Seashore Grill.
