A RE-ARRANGED Munro Cup match was played on the all-weather green at Cowbridge between the home side and Cadoxton Bowls Club.

On an overcast night the number of ends was reduced to 15, even so the last rink finalised in the gathering gloom.

John Jones met opposing skip Norman Wilkinson and was drawing on the penultimate end, but unfortunately a single for the home side was scored with a fortunate wick with the last bowl, to take the honours.

Ivor Robertson’s rink were level with three remaining ends against skip C Pritchard, however a four on the next put Cowbridge in front which they managed to hold until the end.

Don Kuhnell’s rink had the ascendancy for most of the game with Alan Wallace’s rink, but after scoring a four on the tenth end, they reached the dreaded score of 13. Twelve shots were conceded including a seven, during the following three ends to take away any chance of a win, despite being successful on the last two ends.

Derek Jeffries had skip Dennis Snelling in opposition and for a large part the match was closely contested, however two fives made the difference to the final score.

Cadoxton hosted a CML5 match against the current league leaders, Rhoose, which ended in a decisive victory for the home team. This brings them back into contention with a slight chance of promotion, with two matches still to play.

Roy Harding also had a significant win against Paul Williams’s rink, as did Don Kuhnell against Les Parsons. Arthur Field made his first team debut on this rink, and performed commendably.
