South Wales Alliance League Division One

Cadoxton Barry 5 - Morgan (2), Weekley, Oaten, Dawson

Cogan Coronation 3 - Walsh (own goal), Fitzgerald, Jones

GROUNDHOPPERS from across the UK descended on the Vale of Glamorgan over the Bank Holiday Weekend to watch several football matches at different grounds.

Organisation Groundhop UK arrange to visit different leagues across the country throughout the year so members can visit as many football grounds as possible.

Members visited 11 football grounds in the Vale over the weekend, taking in Cadoxton Barry FC versus Cogan Coronation to bring the festivities to a close.

Early indications pointed to Cadoxton Barry FC running away with this match as they raced into a four goal lead through Morgan, Weekley, Oaten and Dawson by the 33rd minute.

However, within that same 33rd minute Cogan started a fight back that, at one point, saw them pressing whilst within a single goal of equalising. But solo approach work from Morgan rounded off with an even better finish from an acute angle, quashed any hopes Cogan might have had of completing what had nearly been a famous turnaround.

Played on a very warm Bank Holiday late afternoon, this match gave the ground hoppers amongst a 300-plus strong crowd great entertainment, bags of excitement and, memories to take back home to the many far flung corners of the United Kingdom from which they came.

A Cadoxton Barry FC spokesman said: "Thanks must go to both sets of players, a hard working team of volunteers and, of course, the Groundhop UK themselves, for making this an occasion to remember for Cadoxton Barry and Cogan Coronation.

"Finally, a special thanks also goes to the Vale of Glamorgan County Borough Council for all their support."
