NEWPORT COUNTY AFC's ticket office is to be closed tomorrow for general sale tickets for next Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Manchester United after staff received 'appalling abuse.'

Tickets for the much anticipated game go on general sale at 10am tomorrow, last Thursday and Friday, season ticket holders and Supporters Trust members were able to buy tickets.

In a statement issued today Newport County confirmed that the ticket office will be closed tomorrow, January 22 and tickets will only be available to be purchased online.

This decision has been made after 'the appalling abuse and threating behaviour the ticket office and support staff received during the priority purchase period on Thursday.'

A spokesperson for Newport County said: "Newport County would like to confirm that the ticket office will be CLOSED on Monday for general sale tickets for next Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Manchester United.

"All remaining tickets will be available to purchase ONLINE ONLY from 10am.

"Unfortunately, this decision has been made after the appalling abuse and threating behaviour the ticket office and support staff received during the priority purchase period on Thursday.

"The club will not condone this behaviour towards any member of its staff and will employ a zero-tolerance policy going forward which may result in stadium bans or legal action.

"The club’s small pool of staff has worked extremely hard across long hours in recent weeks to organise the two sell-out games against Wrexham and Manchester United. The club would like to thank them for their dedication and commitment."

A maximum two tickets are allowed per person.

County fans, who braved the cold and don’t want to risk missing out on the mouth-watering FA Cup game at Rodney Parade, already started queueing on Thursday morning.

A temporary stand on the North Terrace will boost the capacity by 1,000 with the club also adding an additional 400 seats to the away stand to meet the FA’s allocation guidelines.

Online tickets for Manchester United will be available here.
