ELY Rangers won a thriller, 5-2 on penalties in the W John Owen Cup.

Rangers only kept the game alive with a 92nd-minute equaliser against Llantwit Farde.

Again it was all but another wash-out for Vale teams in the SW Alliance League this weekend with only two teams involved in any action.

In the SW Alliance Leagues’ W John Owen Cup, high flying Ely Rangers made the journey from Wenvoe to play promotion rivals Llantwit Fardre at Tonteg Park in the Quarter Finals - so far this season it's been one game each with the away team winning both occasions.

To add another Vale connection, Danny Williams from Barry was the referee!

After going two-nil down, Rangers got one back on the half hour through Zach Cleary before an Alex Long penalty made things all square at half-time.

Llantwit Fardre retook the lead just after halftime, but a 92nd-minute equaliser by Richard Greaves took the game to penalties and Rangers held their nerve to come out 5-4 winners.

Following the game the Semi-Final draw was made live on X, formally known as Twitter, and Ely Rangers have been drawn to play Bridgend Street on March 23.

Cogan Coronation’s third attempt to play Canton Rangers in the Hugh James SWFA Senior Cup went ahead with the game at Leckwith’s House of Sport 3G.

After going behind early the Corries took a 3-1 lead at halftime through a Cole Saunders brace and Jack Preston, who scored his second early in the second half. Adam Ress scored the Corries fifth in a 5-2 victory.

The win sees Corries play Splott Cons in the quarter-finals on Friday, March 1, at Llanrumney University Fields, kick off 7.30pm, with the victor facing either Cwmbach Royal Stars or Ton Pentre in the semi-finals.
